It all began in Japan in the 1970s with the discovery made by Miyoshi Okamoto.
The Japanese company he was working for decided to collaborate with an Italian company. The Japanese company provided the necessary equipment and technology. The Italians were responsible for manufacturing and selling the products to the public. This led to active production of this material.
Alcantara is a registered trademark and is produced in a single factory in Italy.
A technical fabric
This fabric is a durable and resistant microfibre.
This luxurious fabric has many properties: it keeps well, is light, soft, supple and easy to care for.
This non-woven fabric is highly tolerant of sudden changes in temperature, providing warmth in winter and coolness in summer.
Alcantara is made from 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane.
