FILTERS
As you browse through our materials pages, you'll find a "filters" area to help you find your hidden gem, and you'll find the terms used in the article descriptions.
This feature defines the flexibility of the leather. Note that this is not related to the thickness of the leather.
This is an important choice in the design of your object, both in terms of technical feasibility and aesthetics, so don't hesitate to contact your manufacturer if necessary.
- Supple hand: All types of assembly possible, including "piqué retourné".
- Firm hand : raw edge mounting, to be tested for "piqué retourné".
- Rigid hand : raw edge mounting only.
The photos and video on each product page also allow you to appreciate the flexibility of a leather.
The tannins used are either of mineral origin ( chrome is most often used), plant origin (tree bark, leaves or resins), or what we call mixed or combined (mineral and plant tannins).
Vegetable tanning is often used for items requiring great resistance (belts, saddles and soles), and will develop a natural patina over time.
Chrome tanning allows for more uniform finishes and brighter colors, and its rigidity can vary, allowing for a wide range of possibilities.

We also indicate in the description of each item whether the skins are complete or in half-hides.
This lets you know whether a single skin will provide enough surface area for your different pieces.
- For bovine supports (e.g. calf, cow, bull), each product page will indicate the different surface ranges available for an article. The price of a hide will depend on the surface range (see "Pricing" below).
- The one size fits all reference for small skins, such as lamb, goat, sheep and rabbit. Each product description indicates the average surface area in sqm2. This is generally between 0.2 and 0.8sqm2/skin.
Keep in mind that a thick skin can be split, and a thin skin can be strengthened.
All our leather is a by-product of the food industry.

Use the "finish" filter to find the leather that best matches the aesthetics of your project. You'll find materials ranging from matte to glazed, glossy or classic... the possibilities are endless!

THE REACH REGULATION
THE REACH REGULATION
- REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals): a European Union regulation designed to protect human health and the environment against chemical risks. This certification verifies that the leather has been produced in conformity with these standards.
At Adapta, we offer only European-produced materials, and all European tanneries are required to comply with these regulations.

PRICING
The price displayed on the website is per skin and not per sqm2.
At Adapta, transparency and integrity are at the heart of our pricing policy.
We are committed to offering affordable prices for all types of customers, from 30% to 70% less than their original prices.
Our price list is simple and transparent:
- Chrome/mineral tanned bovine leathers are €42 excl. tax/sqm2
- Vegetable/mixed tanned bovine leathers are €52 excl. tax/sqm2
- For sheep, rabbit and goat hides, prices are by the skin.

FABRICS
Although leather is our main business, we are delighted to offer you a complementary range of high-quality fabrics to complete your products or your accessory and interior design collections.
As with the rest of our selection, fabrics are sourced exclusively from dead stock.
The minimum purchase is one meter length (1mL), allowing you to test and explore different options without massive commitment.
HARDWARE
In addition to our selection of leathers and fabrics, we also offer a range of hardware for leather goods and accessories.
These second-hand pieces are revalued by our customers and come from luxury houses, their manufacturers and major brands wishing to be part of a circular approach. Like our leathers, these pieces are carefully checked to guarantee their quality.
As with all pre-owned parts, exchanges and refunds are not possible.
